Supporting Digital Literacy and Quality Journalism, Garudafood Gives 100 Account Subscriptions to Kompas.id for Parahyangan Catholic University

Bandung, 4 November 2021 - Garudafood held another ceremony for the fourth times, to give 100 account subscriptions of  Kompas.id annual subscriptions and held a digital literacy webinar for Parahyangan Catholic University with the topic “Abundant Information, Filtering Hoaxes, and Fake News”.

The account subscriptions were symbolically given by Hardianto Atmadja as the President Director of Garudafood to Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D. Rector of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) accompanied by Sutta Dharmasaputra - Editor in Chief of Kompas and Haryo Damardono - Vice Managing Editor of Kompas. On this special occasion, Hardianto shared his memories of being a student at the Faculty of Economics - Unpar and graduating 28 years ago, at the same time he was also studying at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, ITB.

Digital literacy refers to the knowledge and skills to use digital media, communication tools, or networks in finding, evaluating, using, creating and utilizing information in a sound, wise, intelligent, careful, accurate, and law-abiding manner to foster communication and interaction in daily life. Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D, Rector of Unpar, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between Garudafood and Kompas. Kompas is a mainstream media that has been tested and has been able to prove that it is a media that presents truth and good deeds in serving the community through the news it publishes.

Garudafood Supports Quality Journalism is one of Garudafood's CSR programs through collaboration with Kompas.Id by giving 1,000 annual subscriptions to Kompas.id for lecturers or students in 6 universities as well as internal employees of the Garudafood Group. The ceremonial handover of this assistance will be done through 6 webinars, which will be held on a weekly basis in October - November 2021 at each University

Through this program, Garudafood hopes to assist lecturers in transferring knowledge to students from credible sources and accurate information or data. Lecturers as educators play a role in developing mature characteristics in students and can motivate and identify potential to develop students’ critical thinking and in the future, the students are expected to be able to receive information more wisely from various sources and to be able to review and verify the news in their area Students can become agents of change at least starting from their area to large organizations in the general public so we will be able to create capable successors of the nation and use digital media wisely to gain benefits for ourselves and others.
