Garudafood Helps West Sumatra Flash Flood Victims

Padang, 14 May 2024 – Flash floods and landslides hit several areas of West Sumatra on Saturday (11/5/2024) and Sunday (12/5/2024). The number of victims who died due to flash floods and landslides in several areas in West Sumatra continues to increase. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that, as of 16/5/2024, 67 people have been reported dead, 20 people missing, 37 people injured, and 3,396 people have been displaced.

As a response to this disaster, the Garudafood Sehati and SNS teams moved quickly to distribute more than 120 cartons of Garudafood products in the form of Malkist biscuits and Chocolatos cream wafers to natural disaster victims at several evacuation posts in Agam and Tanah Datar Districts - West Sumatra. In addition to products, Garudafood also distributed in-kind assistance, such as emergency shelter kits (tents, blankets, sleeping mats), hygiene supplies, medicines, and others through DT Peduli partners. The distribution of assistance has been carried out since 14 May 2024 and is currently still being implemented in collaboration with Sekolah Relawan, Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli and Keluarga Buddhayana Indonesia (KBI) of West Sumatra.

The donation was initiated by Garudafood Group employees and facilitated by the Company as a momentum to care for others and foster a sense of humanity.
