“The longest Wafer Stick Cream” Is Awarded by MURI
The longest Wafer stick cokelat Gery Chocolatos produced in biscuit factory of GarudaFood in Gresik, Friday (31/8) was awarded by Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI).

In the attraction held by Biscuit Division of PT GarudaFood Putra Putri Jaya (GPPJ) Gresik, it succeeded to create wafer stick containing chocolate cream of which in normal size was identical to cigar and known to have a brand of Gery Chocolatos, this time the product was made much longer than wafer stick in general, noted 17.7 meters. Creation of Muri Record was registered under serial number 2.749.

“We want to promote brand awareness of Gery Chocolatos product. Creation of this record has simultaneously become a challenge for Gery team to make innovation and improve product quality”, said Plant Manager of GPPJ Gresik Widijanto Hartono.

According to him, production of the longest Gery Chocolatos requires 1,377 grams of chocolate cream and 748 grams of flour. Raw material and dough should be the same as Gery Chocolatos usually produced.

“Failing which, the produced wafer stick will be breakable easily.” he explained.

Registration of the Longest Wafer Stick with MURI (Indonesian Record Museum) is a peak of serial activities held in the 17th anniversary of GarudaFood falling on August 31. Consideration of MURI to grant award is because this is the first time for chocolate wafer stick is made at the length of 17.7 meters. In normal condition, the same kind of product will be easy to break or crack at the length of just 2 meters.

Wafer stick itself is known by Indonesian People as one of snacks other than crispy thin chips, biscuit, or peanut.

GarudaFood as one of famous food and beverage companies in Indonesia known with the slogan of Leading In Innovation produces one of new variants of Gery brand, biscuit brand is widely known people, namely Chocolate Wafer Stick called Gery Chocolatos.

This MURI record had already been processed since the last three weeks by making 73 times of experiments to be able to attain the size of 17 meters. After registration of MURI record, the longest Gery Chocolatos will be eaten together with orphans originating from areas around the factory.

The occasion was also attended by District Level Executive Conference, village head, and local public figures. This activity was also enlivened by performance of shalawat Ndoro Kanjeng group as well as granting of scholarship to workers’ children of GarudaFood.

Gery Chocolatos is the newest innovation product produced by Biscuit Division of GarudaFood. As of its launching a year ago, this product was able to draw people attraction indicated by quick-selling of this product in market. Consequently, predicate as the Best Brand in the category of Wafer Stick was earned by Gery Chocolatos in the Indonesia Best Brand Award (IBBA) competition last 2007. (CCD)
