GarudaFood Sehati, Social program of GarudaFood Group sent a donation in terms of food product, packed rice, and safe water to assist the flood casualties in five villages in District of Pati, Central Java.
" Donation we focus was in terms of ready-to-consume food products especially for villages which were inundated by flood at the same height as matured person or approximately 1.5 meters, " said Bambang HS, coordinator of GarudaFood Sehati in his press conference released in Pati, Friday (11/1).
According to Bambang, the company made a cooperation with volunteers from Military Resort Command (Korem) 073/ Makutarama (Military District Command 0718 Pati). In the first day, the company had deliver 2000 packed rices, KATOM (coated peanut), and healthy water to three flood locations which condition were the worst, namely Desa (Village) Ngantru and Tanjang in Kecamatan (Sub-district) Gabus, Pati, as well as Desa (Village) Widorokandang in Kecamatan (sub-district) Pati Kota Minggu (6/1).
”The following day, Saturday, January 12, 2008, our team delivered the second phase of donation for four areas namely in desa (village) Kosekan, and Pantirejo (kec (sub-district) Gabus ), Desa (Village) Kasihan (Kec (sub-district) Sukolilo), and Desa (Village) Karangrowo (Kec (sub-district) Jakenan ),” said Bambang.
Until then, hundreds of houses in some villges in Kecamatan (sub-district) Sukolilo, Gabus, as well as Kecamatan (sub-district) Kajen, Pati, Jawa Tengah, as of Thursday (3/1) were inundated by flood at the average water height of 1.5 meters.
A part of residents were reluctant to be evacuated far away from their houses. They want to watch their livestock and assets. Most of residents were declined to be relocated due to afraid of being unable to do agricultural activity in the new places. In addition to inundate residents houses, flood in Pati had also inundate eight thousand hectares of agricultural land.
